Ohio State is now on their first win streak of the new year following their 73-62 victory over No. 21 Maryland on Wednesday. To Sean McNeil, he thinks they were able to accomplish it because of how they’ve learned from their previous mistakes.

McNeil recalled their poor preparation after their win over Iowa which ended a five-game losing streak but was followed by their nine-game losing streak. He said the Buckeyes didn’t let themselves get caught up this time, though, which helped them earn another positive result on their record.

“The preparation after Iowa wasn’t great,” McNeil said. “I think we went on such a long losing streak that we got caught up in that one win. But, as far as this goes, I think now we just have a winning taste in our mouths.”

“We’re doing things the right way, we’ve been doing things the right way…We’re going to continue to trust and do whatever coach tells us to do,” said McNeil. “At the end of the day, that’s all it’s about. We’re playing the right way and just haven’t had the result as far as wins and losses go. But we’re getting hot at the right time.”

McNeil, as a starter on Senior Night, was one of six Buckeyes who finished in double-figures. That kind of production on offense, specifically with them shooting 48% from the field, allowed them to essentially lead wire to wire over the Top-25 Terrapins inside Value City Arena.

Ohio State still has a long way to go before they can officially make noise in the Big Ten Tournament. However, with a chance to extend their streak to three at Michigan State this weekend, they can feel really good about themselves as they head to Chicago if they keep up this type of play.
