Tommy Eichenberg reveals what stands out about Georgia's run game ahead of Peach Bowl
Despite getting blasted by Big Ten rival Michigan in the final regular season game of the season, Ohio State was able to sneak into the College Football Playoff as a four-seed, where they drew No. 1 Georgia in the CFP semifinals. The Buckeyes are coming off a second-straight loss against Michigan where the Wolverines cruised to victory behind a dominant run game, including hanging 252 rushing yards on OSU at the Shoe last month.
Those defensive issues will once again be tested by Georgia, another physical team up front who likes to win on offense by running the football. So, heading into the matchup with the reigning national champs, star Buckeye linebacker Tommy Eichenberg knows his defense is facing another tremendous rushing offense.
“Yeah, I think, all around, I mean, they got a good offensive line, good running back and a good scheme,” he said when asked about the Dawgs run game. “So I think when you put all those together, you know, you’ll be pretty good.”
Georgia doesn’t pose one dominant threat out of the backfield. Instead, they’re punishing defenses by committee on the ground, rotating one talented runner after another with a balanced three-headed running back room for Kirby Smart.

Eichenberg says OSU needs to be ready for the change of pace between the backs.
“Oh, I’d say, you know, just with running backs, every running back kind of plays different. Each of them sees the game different, see the holes differently. You know, some are faster than others. But I’d say overall, you know, they’re all they’re all great running backs.”
Tommy Eichenberg has to live up to his All-American status in the semifinal game against Georgia if the Ohio State defense is to have any shot at slowing down the powerful UGA ground attack.
