TreVeyon Henderson on Miyan Williams: 'We're going to go off, both of us'

Last year, TreVeyon Henderson had a breakout year in the Ohio State offense as a true freshman. But Miyan Williams was also in that running back room, and he could be gearing up for a big year, as well.
In fact, Henderson predicted as much on Wednesday.
“We’re a one-two punch,” he said. “We’re going to go off, both of us.”

Ahead of a highly anticipated matchup against Notre Dame in Columbus, Henderson talked about building off a record-setting freshman year in which he ran for 1,248 yards and 15 touchdowns. Playing alongside Williams, who totaled 508 yards and three touchdowns as a sophomore in 2021, could help improve those numbers.
But Henderson took big steps this offseason, though. That’s why he expects an even bigger sophomore campaign this year — even if he’s still not where he wants to be.
“I feel like I got better in everything,” Henderson said. “I can still improve. There’s still room for improvement. But I feel like I got better at everything I wanted to get better in.”
TreVeyon Henderson earns ‘Herbie’ award ahead of 2022 season
Jaxon Smith-Njigba, TreVeyon Henderson and CJ Stroud all played big roles for Ohio State last season and are coming back for in 2022. Thursday, Kirk Herbstreit put three playmakers in categories of their own.

During his “Herbie” award reveal show, Herbstreit named Smith-Njigba as college football’s best receiver and Henderson as the best running back in the game. Stroud, meanwhile, earned best precision playmaker as he comes off a huge 2021 season in which he threw for 4,435 yards and 44 touchdowns to become a Heisman Trophy finalist.
Henderson had a banner season as a freshman and set a program record with 270 rushing yards against Tulsa. He finished with 1,248 rushing yards and 15 touchdowns along with 312 receiving yards and four touchdowns in the passing game. In fact, Herbstreit said Henderson could be valuable as a receiver, and that would only increase the hype around him.
“Seeing him recently, he’s gotten better, he looks even better than he looked a year ago,” Herbstreit said. “I think he has a chance to get more involved in the passing game. I think he’s just a complete back. If he’s healthy, with the offense that they have and the production that they have around him, he has a chance to have a big year.”
