Ohio State suffered a stunning loss to Michigan on Saturday for its fourth straight loss in the heated rivalry. The Buckeyes entered the matchup as heavy favorites and were hoping to let out some frustration against Michigan.

Instead, it was the Buckeyes who left the game frustrated and limping into the College Football Playoff.

Still, despite the poor showing against Michigan, former Buckeyes coach Urban Meyer said recently that he has no doubt Ohio State is still capable of winning a national championship.

“Absolutely,” Urban Meyer said on The Triple Option podcast when asked if the Buckeyes can win it all. He acknowledged that there are other contenders, but overall he feels like Ohio State has one of the best rosters in the country.

“Other than the offensive line, you name me a better roster in college football,” Meyer said. “I think it’s Oregon, Texas, Ohio State are the best three rosters in college football.”

In addition to Urban Meyer, fellow Fox Sports analyst and former Alabama star running back Mark Ingram also discussed Ohio State and its chances of going on a run in the CFP.

Ingram agrees with Meyer that the Buckeyes can win it all.

“When you have a defense that plays at a high level like that, and you have those playmakers in the backfield and on the outside, you are always going to have a chance, because players win games,” Ingram said on The Triple Option. “So all it takes is putting them in the right position, having them confident, having them believe.

“And they’re even more dangerous right now because people are overlooking them. Michigan beat them, this that. They’re probably even more dangerous now because they get a week off. They come in the playoff with a chip on their shoulder, an edge. … This team might be more dangerous right now than they have been, even though everyone begs to differ.”

It will be interesting to see if Urban Meyer and Mark Ingram are indeed right and if Ohio State can go on a run in the playoff.
