It’s all fun and games until someone gets hit with a football, right? Just ask the referee in the Ohio State vs. Purdue game.

TreVeyon Henderson put Ohio State back on top 14-7 in the first quarter with a three-yard rush. He, naturally, celebrated — and when he tossed the ball away, he accidentally hit the referee in the head.

It was the start of a huge day for Henderson and the Ohio State offense. The freshman standout has 72 yards and two touchdowns to his name as part of a high-power attack from the Buckeyes in the first half against Purdue.

Through almost two full quarters, the Buckeyes have 42 points. Three touchdowns have come from quarterback CJ Stroud and the other three have come from the running game. Ohio State scored 45 points in the first half alone against Purdue, led by Stroud and Henderson.

In the first two quarters, Stroud went 19 for 25 for 212 yards and three touchdowns under center. Garrett Wilson is having a big day in his return to the lineup, tallying seven receptions for 67 yards and two touchdowns. He also had an impressive 51-yard run on a jet sweep for his third touchdown of the game.

Henderson found the end zone again on Ohio State’s next drive — his 17th touchdown from scrimmage this season. He needs one more to catch Maurice Clarett’s record of 18 set in 2002.

Maurice Clarett: TreVeyon Henderson is ‘going to pass my record’

Henderson already set the single-game record for rushing yards from a freshman, with 277 against Tulsa. Last month, Clarett, who ranks second in Buckeye history in single-season rushing yards, said he believes he is one his way to setting another.

“Yeah…he’s going to pass my record,” Clarett tweeted. “Much success to the youngster!”

Clarett held the freshman record until 2017 when JK Dobbins finished with 1,403 yards. Henderson entered Saturday with 937 rushing yards through 10 games.

The Buckeyes were selected as the No. 4 team in the latest College Football Playoff rankings and have been putting on a show against Purdue. They scored 45 points in the first two quarters alone against the Boilermakers, proving they’re not going to be upset by a Purdue team that just knocked off Michigan State last week.

Ohio State and Purdue are currently facing off on ABC.
