WATCH: Ohio State drops hype video ahead of Week 5 game against Rutgers

It’s round five for Ohio State’s football season and stepping in to the ring for a bout is Rutgers — and the Buckeyes are leaning into the boxing theme for their Week 5 hype video.
Footage from last weekend’s beatdown of Wisconsin — including in the locker room — interspersed with the usual sort of voiceovers of coaches and players hyping themselves up makes for a heck of a hype video.
“When the bell goes ding ding, it’s time to go. And when it goes ding ding, make sure your mind is ready to go for a fight,” one voice urges.
“It’s about time that we take the dog in you — the dog has gotta come out today. Let me say it again. The dog in you has got to come out today,” another demands.
The video eventually shows graduate student defensive tackle Jerron Cage imploring his Ohio State teammates to pour their heart and soul into the game.

“Play with your brother. Play with your heart. Play with love. Play with passion,” Cage said, hollering, surrounded by teammates in the locker room.
Ohio State is a 39.5 point favorite against Rutgers.
History favors the Buckeyes in the fight against Rutgers
Aside from some folks in Las Vegas, history informs us that Ohio State will win and handily so.
The two teams have played eight times, all since Rutgers joined the Big Ten in 2014, and the Buckeyes have won all eight. The closest game was during the abbreviated 2020 season where Ohio State won 49-27, but the score belied the Buckeyes dominance. They entered the fourth quarter leading 42-9.
On average, Ohio State has scored 53.5 points a game to a paltry 11 per contest from the Scarlet Knights. While Greg Schiano certainly has Rutgers playing better than in recent memory, it seems more than likely that this game will go the way of previous bouts between the two.
