WATCH: Ohio State marching band surprises Buckeyes legend for birthday
Pat McAfee has a lot of love for his friend and The Pat McAfee Show co-host A.J. Hawk. So much so, that McAfee sent the Ohio State marching band to surprise the Buckeyes legend for his birthday.
McAfe had great intentions, and it made for some phenomenal content. Still, Hawk wasn’t exhilarated to see the band in his driveway on his birthday.
After the band played, Hawk joined the show in a much better mood than before. While the former star linebacker doesn’t love being the center of attention, McAfee provided his friend with a moment he’ll never forget.
The band was more than happy to provide Pat McAfee with his request. Now, A.J. Hawk can start planning how he’s going to repay McAfee for the gesture. Perhaps McAfee’s alma-mater of West Virginia will have to get involved. Get ready, Mountaineers band.
More on AJ Hawk, Ohio State
The Ohio State band playing for Hawk on his birthday is fitting, as his Buckeyes career ranks near the top. The former star linebacker accumulated a long list of accolades while leading the Ohio State defense.

From 2002-2005, Hawk was one of the best linebackers in the nation. His statistics back it up, as the Ohio State star tallied 394 tackles, 15.5 sacks, seven interceptions and 12 pass breakups for the Buckeyes. Additionally, the linebacker had two fumble recoveries, three forced fumbles, and two touchdowns to add to his statline.
Aside from impressive statistics, Hawk also accumulated plenty of awards with the Buckeyes. In his three seasons starting, the star linebacker earned All-Big Ten honors each go-around. Moreover, Hawk played his best in big games — earning the Most Valuable Player Award in the Fiesta Bowl in both 2004 and 2006.
After tremendous success at Ohio State, Hawk was selected No. 5 overall by the Green Bay Packers in the 2006 NFL Draft. The linebacker played for Green Bay from 2006-2014, adding to his ridiculous football resume.
With the Packers, Hawk reached the football mountaintop — defeating the Pittsburgh Steelers to earn a victory in Super Bowl XLV. After all he accomplished already, a Super Bowl was the thing missing from his resume. As you can see, the star linebacker earned it and more.
