WATCH: Ohio State releases hype video ahead of Rutgers trip
The Ohio State Buckeyes are getting ready to head to New Jersey to face off against Rutgers, and they released a hype video ahead of the trip.
In the video, Buckeyes defensive line coach Larry Johnson talks about how his players need to get ready for the next round. The video shows a number of different Ohio State players, such as freshman phenom TreVeyon Henderson.
The Buckeyes have one of the youngest rosters in the country, as they saw 17 freshman play against Akron last week. It turns out they’ve got an incredibly rare talent in Henderson.
He’s been living up to his lofty five-star billing and then some. The Virginia native is currently leading the nation in yards per carry (9.54 yards per carry).
Shattering an Ohio State record
Outside of that, Henderson has also shattered an Ohio State record just a few games into his college football career. Against Tulsa, he gashed them for 277 rushing yards and three touchdowns on the ground on 23 carries.
The talented tailback broke Archie Griffin’s freshman single game rushing yardage mark (239 yards).
So far this season, Henderson has already rushed for 439 rushing yards and six rushing touchdowns on just 46 carries.
As he’s been racking up the yardage on the field, Henderson has been raking in the NIL deals as well, like the one he signed with Arby’s and the Ricart Used Car Factory.

High School Career
Henderson enrolled at Ohio State in January to get a head start on his college football career. Henderson was rated as the top-running back prospect in the nation, according to the On3 Class of 2021 rankings.
On3 also rated Henderson as the 20th-overall prospect in the 2021 recruiting class. He’s listed at 5-foot-10-inches, 215-pounds and attended Hopewell High School (Hopewell, Virginia).
He didn’t play his senior season of high school football due to his school moving their season to the spring of 2021.
The gifted tailback was finally named Hopewell’s starting running back as a junior and he exploded in a big way–by rushing for 2,424 rushing yards and 45 touchdowns.
In his career at Hopewell, the five-star prospect compiled over 4,000 yards rushing with 50 touchdowns and helped Hopewell win its second consecutive state championship in 2019. Henderson chose Ohio State over offers from nearly every school in the country as he boasted 39 scholarships.
Ohio State faces Rutgers on Saturday. Kickoff is 3:30 p.m. EST from Piscataway, New Jersey. The game will be televised on the Big Ten Network.
