WATCH: Ryan Day discusses how Ohio State has changed since Oregon loss
Ohio State was criticized after losing to Oregon back on Sept. 11 and many people even wrote off the rest of the Buckeyes’ season, but that hasn’t seem to faze them in the least. Since that loss to Oregon, Ohio State has reeled off eight straight wins and is now 9-1 overall, 7-0 in Big Ten play and ranked No. 4 in the College Football Playoff Top 25 heading into Saturday’s marquee matchup with No. 7 Michigan State in Columbus.
Coming off a dominating 59-31 win over Purdue last weekend, the Buckeyes have showed what they’re capable of doing – and they’re playing strong football heading down the stretch.
On Saturday morning’s College GameDay show on ESPN, Ohio State head coach Ryan Day spoke about how the Oregon loss changed his team and how they’ve reeled off win after win since then.

“I think we’re such a different team,” Day said. “We were so inexperienced going into the season, and we’ve been through a lot this year. And I think about the seniors that are playing their last game here, they’ve been through a lot for the last four years. I think the combination of the experience and some of the youth has come together in the middle of the season. I talked to the team, it’s not about being the best team, it’s about playing the best today. And that’s what our focus has got to be. I think we’ve had a really good week of practice, and I think we’re ready to roll.”
Ohio State’s betting odds vs. Michigan State
Despite it being a No. 4 vs. No. 7 showdown, Ohio State is favored over Michigan State by 19 points, with the overall points total set at 69.5. The Buckeyes have covered in the past four meetings against the Spartans dating back to 2017, but have failed to cover in five of their last six games against ranked opponents.
OSU is 5-8 against the spread since Day’s first season in 2019.
No. 4 Ohio State and No. 7 Michigan State are set for a Noon ET kickoff on ABC.
