Ohio State honors Dwayne Haskins with candlelight shrine
Days after the tragic death of 24-year old former Ohio State quarterback Dwayne Haskins, the school posted an image of a shrine in his honor which has been lit by several candles outside a game with the Buckeyes’ logo behind it. The touching tribute included jerseys, flowers and other memorial gifts including a giant No. 7 patch with messages written across it.
The Dwayne Haskins shrine once again demonstrates the impact he had one the school, the fanbase and those around him during his time at Ohio State.
The Pittsburgh Steelers quarterback died early Saturday morning after stopping his car on the highway before attempting to cross through oncoming traffic on foot. The incident happened in South Florida near Miami on I-595.
Per ESPN’s Adam Schefter and Steelers reporter Brooke Pryor, Haskins was down in South Florida training with other Pittsburgh players for the upcoming season. The trip to Florida was organized by Mitch Trubisky, who signed a contract to become the heir apparent to Ben Roethlisberger. The plan was to train in Florida and do some team bonding, as well.
