Will Howard, Cody Simon share how they hope Ohio State legacy is remembered
Quarterback Will Howard and linebacker Cody Simon elevated their game throughout the course of the 2024 campaign, aiding Ohio State in their run to the top of the college football world.
The duo played pivotal roles in the Buckeyes securing another national title, and quieting their doubters that grew louder and louder with each disappointing result. Afterwards, the duo reflected on what their legacies would become in Columbus, and how they were able to help author an incredible comeback story.
“I feel like the story kind of speaks for itself a little bit,” Howard told the media, following their championship victory. “Every player on this team, especially the seniors that were here for three, four years and decided to come back, each and every single one of those guys have a story. We, collectively, get to tell the story of this season. There were ups and downs. There were trials and tribulations. Ultimately, we were able to overcome them, and win the big one at the end.
“When we got into this thing, Coach [Ryan] Day at the end of the Cotton Bowl was talking about, ‘Our story is written, but it needs to be told.’ We have some unbelievable individual stories, and then as a team. So, I’m just so glad that we were able to get it done. You know, years down the line, we can tell the story about this team. There’s just too many unbelievable guys, and unbelievable people in this building that need their stories told.”
Contining, Simon certainly is in agreement with his quarterback, believing that the 2024 iteration of Ohio State will go down in history as a special team, bonded by their brotherhood and togetherness.

“I would just echo that. The humility and the resilience of not only the seniors, but everybody on our team,” Simon stated. “People deciding to come back for another year when they could’ve made all this money in the NFL, and be first round picks. They came back for the love of the brotherhood, and the appreciation for the culture and all of their teammates.
“I think that story is about determination, resilience, humility. Just thankfulness, faithfulness. Everything, that good that comes out of a team game and a team sport, I think our team has shown it this year.”
All told, the story of Will Howard, Cody Simon and the 2024 Ohio State Buckeyes is one that won’t soon be forgotten. It’ll go down as one of the better comeback tales in recent memory, as the team was able to rise above and capture glory in the end.
