The Ohio State Buckeyes were battling the outside noise to go along with the Tennessee Volunteers on a cold December night in the College Football Playoff. Behind their quarterback, Will Howard, the Buckeyes were more than up to that moment, crushing the Volunteers 42-17.

In the wake of that win, Howard took to Instagram where he used a Game of Thrones quote aimed at the Volunteers to turn the page on Tennessee and move on to the next Playoff game.

“When people ask you what happened here, tell them the North remembers,” Will Howard posted along with photos from the game. “Tell them Winter came for the Volunteers.”

“See y’all in Pasadena,” Howard concluded with a rose emoji. “Philippians 4:6-7”

Will Howard had a massive first round Playoff game against Tennessee. He finished the game throwing for 311 yards and two touchdowns. Those numbers more than doubled the production of Tennessee quarterback Nico Iamaleava in that game, though. That was a part of the Buckeyes offense averaging 7.4 yards per play and snagging 24 first downs over the course of the dominant win. It was a win that saw Tennessee go north into the cold and walk away not just with a loss but the end of their season.

After the game, head coach Ryan Day shared why Will Howard was able to have such an excellent game in the win.

“I thought his footwork was good,” Day said. “We worked hard on some of those throws, and he hit a few of those right on the money. The fade ball and go ball were really well done. The levels ball, too, and Carnell was really a well thrown ball. Probably missing a few others. But he was accurate today. A big thing for Will is his footwork. When his footwork’s on point, and when he’s seeing things well, he’s as good as anybody in the country.”

This came for Ohio State amid concerns about the future Ryan Day’s future after he dropped a fourth straight game to the Michigan Wolverines. Now, the Buckeyes have their first Playoff win of the season and look capable of making a deep run.

That next game is going to be a difficult one for Ohio State, though. It’s a rematch with the Oregon Ducks, who won a thriller earlier this season over the Buckeyes. That game ended on a clock management mistake that Will Howard would love to find a way to avenge. However, this game will be at the Rose Bowl, a neutral site, and it seems like anything could happen in the game.
