Zed Key responds to CJ Stroud's challenge to the Ohio State basketball team
Zed Key wants C.J. Stroud to put his skills on the basketball court to the test.
At Big Ten Media Days, the Ohio State star quarterback was talking up his basketball skills — revealing he beat Buckeyes wide receiver Jaxon Smith-Njigba nine consecutive times in the classic game of H-O-R-S-E. Additionally, Stroud called himself the best shooter on the team, along with laying down the gauntlet — claiming a group of Ohio State football players could defeat their school’s basketball squad on the court.
Of course, Key has all the confidence in the world in his squad — as the Ohio State forward quote-tweeted Stroud’s comments with a challege.
“Let’s run it then,” tweeted Key, ready to get the pick-up game going.
While C.J. Stroud may have just been showing some confidence in his basketball ability and his team, Zed Key isn’t ready to let the quarterback think he can run things in a different sport. Now, Ohio State faithful — and sports fans everywhere — are hoping the matchup actually comes to fruition.
Ryan Day explains how CJ Stroud has emerged as a greater leader in offseason
C.J. Stroud was phenomenal for Ohio State on the field last season, but Ryan Day believes his star quarterback has emerged as an equally impressive leader off the field.
Speaking with the media at Big Ten Media Days, the Buckeyes coach explained how Stroud has emerged as a greater leader throughout the offseason.

“C.J.’s always had very good leadership skills. He’s always had a voice, but once you go on the field and you show credibility that you can do it, you walk a little differently. Guys look at you through a different lens. I think that’s been the case,” stated Day. “When you’re young and you go into a season, you haven’t played, you’re just trying to figure out a way to complete that first pass, get that first win and you’re just so focused on your job and maybe the offense.
“This off-season, he’s done a great job of really taking a bunch of guys on defense over to his house. He’s cooked for them, he’s really approached it like a coach, and that’s what leaders do. That’s what really good quarterbacks do. So for a third year player to take that kind of approach has been great to see.”
As you can see, Ryan Day couldn’t be happier with the way C.J. Stroud has progressed over the offseason. Whether it’s his leadership or on field abilities, the Ohio State quarterback has no limit on how good he can be.
