2024 LB Michael Boganowski commits to Oklahoma: 'The program is on its way up'
Oklahoma offered Michael Boganowski back in January. As soon as the Sooners offered the three-star linebacker out of Junction City (Kan.), he became a top target.
Brandon Hall led the charge. The safeties coach in Norman quickly established a relationship with one of the best in Kansas. Brent Venables got involved along with numerous other staffers.
After official visits to Kansas, Kansas State, Oklahoma and Stanford in June. Then unofficial visits back to all except for Stanford in July and games in Lawrence, Manhattan and Norman this season, Boganowski has committed to the Sooners.
“I initially thought I would commit before the season, but it took a little more time, and about a week before Oklahoma played Texas is when I gave Coach Venables my silent commitment,” Boganowski told On3.
“Right when they offered me, the brand caught my attention. We continued to build our relationship throughout the year, then I took my official visits in June. I kind of had Kansas State on top late in June, but after the visits in July, Oklahoma was back at the top. Then I was there for the Arkansas State game and I kind of knew.”
The 6-foot-2, 195-pound senior committed before Oklahoma’s big win over Texas in the Red River Shootout, so Boganowski had confidence in the team and the coaches even before that game. He is excited about what he is going into and who will get to play for.
“Coach Venables is building Oklahoma back to that national contender. Seeing his past and his resume, I believe he will get it done at Oklahoma. He has the team playing great this season and the program is on its way back up.

“Coach Venables is a high-energy guy who loves the game that will pull the best out of me. Coach Hall is a student of the game. He is very smart about football and I know he will make me better too. Oklahoma is a great place to be.”
Oklahoma has everything Boganowski was looking for
Boganowski loves the staff at Oklahoma. He trusts them too. He is excited about the unique defense he will play, being able to play in the SEC and what the brand is about in Norman.
This decision wasn’t easy, but he feels it is the right one. He is excited to be a Sooner.
“I am going to Oklahoma where I will be surrounded by great players every day that will make me better,” Boganowski said. “Iron sharpens iron and I am looking forward to those battles every day in practice. Then I get to play in front of fans who love their team. There aren’t any professional teams around there, so everyone loves Oklahoma and they are passionate.
“I knew I would have to make some tough calls in the end, but as soon as those were made, I was very happy with the place I was at.”
