Jocelyn Alo gave Oklahoma softball fans something to remember her by on Senior Day. With the bases loaded and the Sooners trailing Oklahoma State by a score of 2-1 in the fifth inning Saturday, Alo stepped up to the plate for the game’s defining moment.

Then, as she has done numerous times throughout her college career, she sent one over the fences. That grand slam ended up being all OU needed, as it went on complete the Bedlam series sweep with a 5-3 victory.

The home run was the 24th this season for Jocelyn Alo, who ranks as the NCAA’s all-time leader with 112 over her five-year career. It was also her second grand slam this season, the first of which came during the Sooners’ season opener against UC Santa Barbara.

Up until that moment, Oklahoma had never led in Saturday’s contest. The Sooners allowed a pair of early runs and found themselves down 2-0 before Grace Lyons got them on the board in the fourth inning with a single that brought in Tiare Jennings. After the grand slam from Alo, the Cowgirls offense was unable to get much going in response, mustering one more run in the sixth before succumbing to defeat.

With the win, Oklahoma finishes its season with a 48-1 overall record, including 17-1 in Big 12 play. The Sooners now move on to the Big 12 Tournament, where they earned the No. 1 seed, set to begin Thursday. After that, they will begin NCAA Tournament play with hopes of making it to their sixth consecutive Women’s College World Series.

Alo has been a part of Big 12 Tournament titles in 2017, 2018 and 2021, as well as WCWS championships in 2018 and 2021. Now, she is looking to deliver one more of each in her final season in Norman. Either way, she’s already put together a fabulous career, and the grand slam from Saturday gives her another great memory to look back on.
