3-star DL Ashton Sanders commits to Oklahoma
Los Angeles (Calif.) Cathedral three-star defensive lineman Ashton Sanders has committed to Oklahoma. He chose the Sooners while on his official visit to Norman this weekend.
Sanders is the No. 692 overall prospect and No. 73 defensive lineman in the 2023 cycle, according to the On3 Consensus, a complete and equally weighted industry-generated average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies. He is also the No. 55 player in California.
The 6-foot-1, 312-pound prospect was previously committed to California. He backed off his pledge to the Golden Bears on Aug. 14.
Sanders is now the 21st commit in Oklahoma’s 2023 recruiting class. The group ranks No. 7 in the 2023 On3 Consensus Team Recruiting Rankings and No. 2 in the Big 12.
Head coach Brent Venables and his staff have a pledge from one other defensive lineman, in addition to Sanders. Kissimmee (Fla.) Osceola four-star Derrick LeBlanc chose the Sooners on July 28.

Oklahoma’s class is led by six top-100 prospects. They are Denton (Texas) Guyer five-star quarterback Jackson Arnold, Kansas City (Mo.) North Kansas City five-star EDGE Adepoju Adebawore, Lee’s Summit (Mo.) Lee’s Summit North four-star offensive tackle Cayden Green, Houston (Texas) Langham Creek four-star wide receiver Jaquaize Pettaway, Mustang (Okla.) four-star athlete Jacobe Johnson and Tallahassee (Fla.) Robert F. Munroe Day School four-star safety Makari Vickers.
Other recruits committed to the Sooners include Crandall (Texas) four-star linebacker Samuel Omosigho and Tampa (Fla.) Tampa Catholic four-star linebacker Lewis Carter. They are ranked in the top-200 of the On3 Consensus, along with LeBlanc.
Sanders has an On3 NIL Valuation of $5.3K. The On3 NIL Valuation is an index that looks to set the standard market value for both high school and college-level athletes. The NIL valuation does not act as a tracker of the value of NIL deals an athlete has completed to date. It rather signifies an athlete’s value at a certain moment in time.
