LOOK: Oklahoma Sooners football trolls Texas on social media using Bob Stoops at Women's College World Series
Former Oklahoma football coach Bob Stoops is no stranger to watching the Sooners take on rival Texas. He helped lead OU to an 11-7 record against the Longhorns in his 18 years as head coach, and knows how much the rivalry means to both states.
So it only makes sense that Stoops was in Oklahoma City on Saturday to cheer on the Sooners softball team in the Women’s College World Series against Texas. The former football coach turned FOX college football analyst posed for a photo on social media alongside former OU offensive lineman Bobby Evans that Oklahoma football later posted to its Twitter.
The Sooners opened Saturday’s game against Texas with a two-run homer from all-time home run leader Jocelyn Alo in the first inning. After going scoreless over the next three innings, OU added four more runs in the fifth inning. Most recently, Tiare Jennings sent a two-run homer to left field to increase the lead to 6-1.

Coming off of a regular season in which it suffered only two losses, Oklahoma earned the No. 1 seed in the 2022 NCAA Softball Tournament. The Sooners breezed through their Regional and Super Regional games with a perfect 5-0 record to land back in the Women’s College World Series for the sixth consecutive season. They have claimed the championship three times during that span, and head coach Patty Gasso won all five of the titles in program history.
Like Bob Stoops, Gasso has cemented her spot in Sooners history with he track record already. However, given how dominant the softball team has been this season she has a chance to add to her accolades. Oklahoma has won 40 championships overall, including seven in football. Stoops delivered one of those titles in 2000. The men’s gymnastics program leads all athletics with 12 championships.
