Brent Venables has heated reaction to UCF player blowing a kiss on long touchdown
The Oklahoma Sooners may still be a little hungover after their huge victory over the Texas Longhorns in the Red River Rivalry.
While a bye week was sandwiched in-between their win over Texas and their game against the UCF Knights, Brent Venables‘ bunch has come out looking slow. At the moment, Oklahoma is tied with UCF at 17 points, as halftime rages on.
One of the biggest plays of the first half featured UCF wide receiver Javon Baker. He caught an 86-yard touchdown to give UCF the lead, and made sure to let the Sooners sideline know about it.
Check out the video below, where Baker blows a kiss towards the Oklahoma sideline on his way to the end-zone.
Afterwards, Venables lost his mind, incensed with Baker’s antics on his way to the end-zone. We’re willing to bet he wasn’t happy with his defense either, for allowing Baker to get behind them for the long score.
As you can see, it’s getting a little heated between Oklahoma and UCF, as the Knights won’t be pushovers for the Sooners. With the second half about to get underway, we’ll see if the antics continue between the freshly-minted Big 12 rivals.
Dillon Gabriel reveals what he wants Oklahoma offense to improve on in second half of year
Meanwhile, Oklahoma’s offense was firing on all cylinders versus Texas and beyond throughout the first half of the season with quarterback Dillon Gabriel under center. Gabriel leads the Big 12 Conference with 1,878 passing yards and 16 touchdown passes, serving as the engine of the Sooners’ high powered offense that leads the conference in scoring at 45.2 points per game.

But Gabriel and the offense are still looking to improve during the second half of the season, which he recently discussed following the team’s Tuesday practice.
“Yeah I just think it’s just as a group we gotta be better, and I say that there’s parts where we can get away from people and we leave them in the game,” Gabriel said. “And I think us being able to take advantage every opportunity, close the door early, and just knowing how good we can be because we haven’t played our best football.”
The Sooners have slightly taken their foot off of the gas in the second half of a handful of games offensively this season, but if they’re yet to play their best football yet, the Big 12 Conference better beware.
Only three teams in the nation score more points per game than Oklahoma, and their passing attack ranks fourth in the nation averaging 341.2 yards through the air per game.
We’ll see if the Sooners can continue to find their footing on offense in the second half, as they’ll look to get back on track against the Knights.
