5-star wide receiver Caleb Cunningham visits Oklahoma
Ackerman (Miss.) Choctaw County 2025 five-star wide receiver Caleb Cunningham has already established himself as one of the nation’s most coveted junior recruits.
The 6-foot-3, 185-pounder is the nation’s No. 11 overall prospect and No. 2 wide receiver in the 2025 cycle according to the On3 Industry Ranking — a weighted average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies. He is also the top recruit in Mississippi.
SEC programs like Alabama, Ole Miss, Mississippi State, Georgia and more are in pursuit of him, but a new member to the conference is also looking to make a splash in the southeast footprint: Oklahoma.
The Sooners hosted Cunningham over the weekend for his first-ever visit to Norman.
Cunningham recaps Auburn visit
The 6-foot-3, 185-pound Cunningham visited Auburn this past weekend and recapped his trip with On3.
“Auburn definitely moved up my list,” Cunningham told On3. “What stood out about Auburn is that I learned a lot about their program. They have great people on that staff. It’s all about brotherhood and family there. They showed great hospitality. The coaches definitely love me they were telling me how I can play a big role in their offense and that they need players like me in their offense.”
He spent time with Hugh Freeze, Marcus Davis and former Ole Miss assistant, now Tigers offensive coordinator Derrick Nix.
“The message from coach Freeze was to find the best environment. He feels like the best environment for me could be Auburn. He definitely wants me in his offense.
After his trips to Auburn and Oklahoma, he is expected to visit Florida next weekend.

While it’s still early, the in-state Bulldogs look to have some momentum with the recent hiring of head coach Jeff Lebby.

The Bulldogs will have to battle a who’s who of major contenders to land him, though. LSU, Alabama, Florida State, and more than 20 other programs have also extended offers, with Cunningham taking visits to multiple campuses in the past six months.
He hasn’t given any indication that a decision is coming soon, but told On3’s Chad Simmons in August what he is looking for in a school.
“It is about who stays in contact with me and who makes me feel wanted,” he said. Those schools have done a very good job with that. I have visited each except for Auburn and USC too, so I have a feel for the campus, I have met the coaches and I like the feeling with those schools.
… Then it is about the fit. I think I could fit into those offenses well, make an impact early and do well at those schools.”
