California transfer RB Jaydn Ott signs with Oklahoma

Coveted California transfer running back Jaydn Ott has a new home. He’s taking his talents to Oklahoma via the NCAA transfer portal, the school announced.
The ball-carrier spent the past three seasons with the Golden Bears. He’ll have one year of eligibility remaining as he moves to Norman, and Ott will be hoping he goes out with a bang.
Moreover, Ott has been Cal’s starting running back ever since his freshman season in 2022. He broke onto the scene that year with 897 yards and eight touchdowns to go with 46 catches for 345 yards and three more scores. He was named to the Pac-12 All-Freshman team and all-conference third team as well.
The running back followed up that year with an even better sophomore campaign. He surpassed the 1,000-yard mark for the first time in his career to finish with 1,315 yards rushing and 12 touchdowns to lead the Pac-12 in rushing as he was a first team all-conference selection.

Ott struggled this past season during Cal’s first year as an ACC member, however. His total of 385 yards rushing and four touchdowns across 10 games where the lowest of his career, and he’ll aim to bounce back at his next stop.
Ott attended Norco (CA) High School, where he was a four-star prospect in 2022. He ranked as the No. 322 overall player and No. 24 running back in the cycle according to the On3 Industry Ranking, a weighted average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies.
Jaydn Ott figures to be a major player for Oklahoma, as they look to rejuvenate their offense during their second season in the SEC. We’ll see if he can come through for the Sooners when the season begins, as he moves on from California.
