Poe discusses four of his finalists
Poe spoke with On3’s Sam Spiegelman on May 29 about four of his top schools.
Alabama: “(Nick Saban has) had such a huge platform with big success and he’s done it over and over and over again. He’s instilled that culture so that is runs on its own. The coaches, the recruiting staff, and the players all know where to go. It’s like clockwork and it’s impressive to see. It’s fluid and everyone knows what they’re doing, and it starts at the top with coach Saban and it trickles on down.”
Auburn: “They’re fresh, they’re new and they’re hungry. Everyone on that staff is hungry and they want the best players and the best people over there. One of my favorite things in the recruiting process going through spring ball was that they couldn’t cuss or it was five push-ups. We were sitting around talking to Coach and someone cussed — and they were held accountable. If kids can buy into a simple rule like not cussing, then they can buy into other things coach (Hugh) Freeze is bringing. Walker White is a great recruiter and he’s doing a great job recruiting me and some other top athletes. Knowing that guy is behind is something big.”
Clemson: “Family. That’s what coach (Dabo) Swinney sells, that’s what coach (Thomas) Austin sells. That’s their main thing. If you go there, you’ll get a great education. They’re one of the highest breakout schools and they’re hungry. They have a pretty good track record of great things and coach Swinney is hungry to do it again. He’s trying to build out a great class and they’re after a ring and a trophy at the end of the season.”
Texas Tech: “Most people think it’s the SEC vs. little Texas Tech, but Texas Tech has something brewing. Coach (Joey) McGuire is building a great class with the top athletes. They’re turning heads and taking notice. I’ll always be a Tech fan and push for them to do great things. Coach McGuire says everything comes through Lubbock and he’s turning the train tracks there.”
