Danny Stutsman, Jaren Kanak reveal matching Horns Down tattoos were fake
Oklahoma linebackers Danny Stutsman and Jaren Kanak took social media by storm this past week by revealing matching Horns Down tattoos after a 34-30 win against Texas. As it turns out, however, that was a troll job within a troll job.
SoonerScoop‘s George Stoia posted a photo from Stutsman and Kanak’s Instagram stories on Sunday that showed both players with the Texas logo upside down on their legs. However, Stutsman followed up with a photo to Twitter on Monday evening showing that it was a temporary tattoo, as it was no longer on his leg.
The linebacker seemed to revel in the fact that he got one over on the Longhorns fan base, writing the caption “#gotcha” along with the photo.
Kanak was quick to respond, quoting the tweet and writing “WAIT YOURS WAS FAKE!?!?!?”
Danny Stutsman and Jaren Kanak both played a major role in the Sooners’ victory on Saturday. Kanak finished with a team-high 13 tackles to go along with one sack in the win. Stutsman had nine tackles, including 1.5 that went for a loss.
One of Stutsman’s nine tackles came during a goal line stand for the Sooners, as he forced a one-yard loss on third-and-goal from the 1. The play after that, Billy Bowman came up with the stop to force a Texas turnover on downs.
It was a big win for the Sooners, catapulting them to No. 5 in the latest AP poll and putting them squarely in the College Football Playoff conversation. Texas may have an opportunity to get its revenge in the Big 12 Championship if both teams can make it, but for now, OU continues to win thanks to some clever trolling from its star linebackers.
Brent Venables calls Red River win ‘next step’ in building culture

After the game, Sooners head coach Brent Venables was asked just how much the win means for the program, especially given the result the year prior.
“We’re better in every area,” he said of the changes from last year to this one. “Last year was an embarrassment, and my hands are all over that. The players that played for us last year, they were hurt from that too. Ultimately, my job as the leader is to get the best out of them. I did a very poor job of that.”
This year’s team, while not flawless, certainly showed a lot of improvement in the rivalry matchup this time around.
“We’re not where we want to be, but this is the next step. This team is a very determined football team, and there’s a lot of belief for having 63 new players on the squad.”
