Danny Stutsman pens goodbye note to Oklahoma football
After four seasons, Oklahoma linebacker and leader Danny Stutsman is heading off the the 2025 NFL Draft.
A fan favorite in Norman, Stutsman has been a staple to OU’s defensive core since his freshman season in 2021 when he put up 38 tackles, forced a pair of fumbles and logged one sack. He’s been the most productive player on the Sooners’ defense ever since.
Before leaving OU, however, Stutsman penned a heartflet message to Oklahoma, its fanbase and everyone who impacted him along the way.
“I have been blessed to spend the past four years in Norman surounded by the best fans in the country, coaches who are family and, and teammates who have become lifelong friends,” the message reads. “I am appreciative of Coach Odom for giving me the ititial opportunity to play for this prestigious program.
“I am forever indebted to Coach Venables and his staff for their development of the player and man who I am today. Most importantly, I am thankful for my Mom and Dad and their unwavering support of me through all of the highs and lows of my collegiate career — and for alway being my biggest fans The University of Oklahoma is my home, and the support from Sooner Nation has been unbelievable. For that, I am forever grateful.”

Across his four-year career, Stutsman logged 376 total tackles, 186 of which were solo. He totaled eight sacks, three interceptions and a touchdown, which came in 2023, during his time as a Sooner. Stutsman’s tackle totals ranked ninth all-time in Oklahoma history at the end of his senior season.
In 2024 alone he totaled 110 tackles (44 solo) and a sack. His tackle totals are 47 more than the next closest player on Oklahoma’s defense.
Stutsman will not play in the postseason for the Sooners. OU finished the regular season 6-6 overall and was invited to the Lockhead Martin Armed Forces Bowl. However, Stutsman will be on-hand in Fort Worth cheering on his teammates against Navy.
