Danny Stutsman reveals Oklahoma had a players-only meeting after Texas loss
Oklahoma linebacker Danny Stutsman is one of the key leaders on their roster. So, after the Sooners were thrashed by Texas on Saturday in the Red River Rivalry, 34-3, he knew it was time to bring his teammates together and get on the same page. Following the disheartening loss, Stutsman met with reporters and revealed the team had a players only meeting after the game.
“Yeah, I mean, right after something like that happens. Very easy to kind of start blaming each other. There’s a thousand excuses you can make. But there’s only so many opportunities you’re gonna have. And I think right after that. We had a players meeting. All the guys got together. That’s something really positive that you like to see. Really air it all out. Got it all out there. That’s what we did yesterday,” Stutsman began.
“So, now, it’s a new week. New mindset. New opponent. We flushed it. We learned from it. And just got back together as a team,” Stutsman continued.
The veteran leader made it known that if anybody on the Sooners’ roster wants to quit in the middle of the season, then he has no space for them in the locker room.

“If you have that type of mindset. If you’re already giving up now. Then I don’t want you on this team because I still have a lot to play for. Only here for a few more months. And I’ve still got a lot I want to accomplish,” Stutsman finished.
Stutsman currently leads the Sooners’ defense in tackles with 46 total tackles in 2024. He’s also tallied 3.5 tackles for loss.
Oklahoma will look to rebound as they battle against a tough South Carolina team this weekend. That one will start at 12:45 PM EST on the SEC Network.
