The mystery of the missing Danny Stutsman jersey has been solved.

And it turns out there was no foul play involved, maybe just some foul smells.

The senior Oklahoma Sooners linebacker and team captain first revealed his game-worn Senior Day jersey against Alabama was missing in a X/Twitter post Sunday afternoon. A day later, the team announced on its own X/Twitter account the jersey was located.

Stutsman cleared the air about what happened during a media appearance following Monday’s practice.

“Yeah, it’s a long story. … But, yeah, it somehow ended up in the training room in a dirty towel bin,” Stutsman said Monday evening, “so I don’t know how it could’ve gotten [there], … it’s weird.”

A reporter suggested maybe the training staff was keeping the precious keepsake safe.

“Maybe, I don’t know,” Stutsman continued. “It was a little strange. But we found it though, so we’re good.”

As seen below, the Sooners official X/Twitter account revealed Stutsman’s jersey had been found Monday evening, showing it now displayed on a wall of highlighting Oklahoma’s NFL alum, appearing beside the league’s logo and a Kyler Murray Arizona Cardinals jersey.

Danny Stutsman has bright future ahead

The current location of Stutsman’s Senior Day jersey is clearly a placeholder for what the Sooners expect will be his first NFL jersey following April’s 2025 NFL Draft.

It’s no surprise that the 2023 third-team AP All-American is playing his way up NFL Draft boards. Draft Network currently has Stutsman as a Day 3 pick, highlighting his strengths in coverage, athleticism and form tackling as key assets.

During Saturday night’s upset against Alabama, Stutsman topped the 100-tackle mark on the season. He has logged 100 stops, 7.5 tackles for a loss, a sack and three quarterback hurries in the 2024 season.

Stutsman’s jersey going missing was certainly an unfortunate turn of events Saturday evening, though not altogether surprising given the nature of the postgame celebration. Oklahoma fans stormed the field not once, but twice — co-mingling with players, coaches and staffers alike — following the Sooners’ shocking 24-3 home upset of the then-No. 7 Alabama.

Oklahoma was fined $200,000 by the Southeastern Conference for the field storming. The league’s standard $100,000 fine was doubled because fans stormed the field prior to the end of the game, then again at its actual conclusion.
