Deion Burks injury update: Oklahoma WR's status for Armed Forces Bowl revealed

WR Deion Burks will be another play for Oklahoma who will be out for the Armed Forces Bowl today.
Per Sooner Scoop’s George Stoia III in Fort Worth this morning, Burks is not dressed to play against Navy.
Stoia III noted in a quote tweet of that one that IOLs Jake Taylor and Jacob Sexton are also not set to play against the Midshipmen.
This comes after several other players, key ones at that, won’t be playing today for various reasons for OU. LB Danny Stutsman and DB Billy Bowman were not listed on the depth chart as opt-outs ahead of the NFL Draft. That’s not to mention the number of 26 transfers that have entered the portal and who won’t participate.
Burks was as injured as a lot of the receivers were this past season in Norman. After transferring from Purdue, he appeared in just five games with undisclosed issues before suffering a concussion. In that time he did play, most of which came in the first month of the season, he caught 31 passes for 245 yards and three touchdowns.
However, Burks is now one of the few receivers who have decided to stay at Oklahoma.
As for the Armed Forces Bowl, though, Burks will be unavailable again this afternoon for the Sooners.

Brent Venables assesses where Oklahoma’s wide receiver room stands
One position that Oklahoma struggled with throughout its entire season was wide receiver as essentially nobody at wideout could stay healthy. Now, those issues have carried into the offseason where the Sooners have seen several receivers enter the transfer portal as six have decided to leave with all of them having committed elsewhere already.
On Thursday, Brent Venables assessed where the receiving corps stands now, specifically heading into their bowl game.
“We’re going forward,” Venables said. “We’re getting ready for Navy. Most of the guys that helped us all year are going to be the same guys that are going to be out there for the bowl game. So, we had a lot of receivers, we were actually over our number most of the year. Thankfully, we were able to play with guys this year.”
“I see a great opportunity for a great foundation of young players there to continue to grow and develop. We recruited them for a reason, all well-thought-of guys…Just creates an opportunity for the next guy.”
