Demetrius Hunter 5th player to decommit from Oklahoma after Lincoln Riley news
The hits keep coming for the Oklahoma Sooners on the recruiting trail after the news that Lincoln Riley was departing for USC. Four-star IOL Demetrius Hunter of Orange (Texas) West-Orange Stark announced on social media he was decommitting from the Sooners.
“With everything going on at Oklahoma, I have to consider my other options and do what’s in my best interest,” Hunter said.
“I love the University of Oklahoma and I’m forever grateful for the opportunity that they gave me. With that being said, I have decided to decommit from the University of Oklahoma.”
Hunter is the No. 63 player in the Lone Star State, according to the On3 Consensus, a complete and equally weighted industry-generated average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies. Hunter originally picked the Sooners over Texas A&M and Texas.
Hunter is the fifth payer to decommit from the Sooners since news of Riley’s departure broke Sunday afternoon.

Before news that Riley was leaving for Oklahoma, the Sooners had the sixth-ranked recruiting class in the country. But now, according to the On3 Consensus Team Recruiting Ranking, the Sooners have dropped to No. 8 in the country.
OU has dropped to 15 commitments overall. There are rumblings that there could be more decommitments on the way. That’s especially true after other schools start to target Sooner commitments with in-home visits, texts and phone calls on Monday.
The other four players to decommit from the Sooners are Los Alamitos (Calif.) Five-Star Plus+ quarterback Malachi Nelson, Miami Gardens (Fla.) American Heritage four-star wide receiver Brandon Inniss, Jacksonville Trinity Christian Academy four-star running back Treyaun Webb and Lubbock (Texas) Lubbock-Cooper four-star linebacker Kobie McKinzie. Nelson, Inniss and Webb are 2023 recruits, while McKenzie is a senior.
