Dillon Gabriel reveals what Gavin Freeman scoring on first career touch says about the offense
Oklahoma got off to a quick start on the 2022 season. They did so in every facet of the game; offense, defense, and special teams. Quarterback Dillon Gabriel is the obvious leader of the offense, and all of the explosiveness that is promised under offensive coordinator Jeff Lebby stems from him.
Of course, Dillon Gabriel isn’t the only key figure when it comes to scoring for the Sooners. One of those key figures going forward is going to be Gavin Freeman, a true freshman who scored on his first college touch.
While speaking to the media following the game, Dillon Gabriel had nothing but praise for the young wide receiver.

“Sweet,” said Dillon Gabriel. “Just, his first touch in college being a touchdown and being a play like that, you know, getting collision and spinning out of it and making the play. That’s, I go back to it, that’s what I think is so unique about our team is, at least our offense, is just having a bunch of guys who can make a bunch of plays.

Dillon Gabriel on his first start at Oklahoma
It was a day that Dillon Gabriel will never forget, as he made his first start at Oklahoma. He explained what was the most exciting and humbling part of that moment.
“Suiting up in the Sooner uniform,” Dillon Gabriel said. I know it’s something that holds a huge responsibility on my end, I’m just super humbled to be able to do something. So it’s another opportunity just stepping back on the field was a great feeling and just overall like I said, this will be a day I never forget.”
