Dillon Gabriel: Special things happen when Marvin Mims gets the ball
The relationship between a quarterback and a wide receiver is incredibly important. For a transfer quarterback like Dillon Gabriel, there are high expectations that he can perform at an incredibly high rate immediately. However, if you’re not on the same page with your receivers, that can be difficult. Luckily, for Gabriel, he has Marvin Mims to throw to.
While speaking to the media following Oklahoma’s win over Kent State, quarterback Dillon Gabriel praised Marvin Mims.
“I mean, he’s an explosive player,” Dillon Gabriel said. “[I] trust Marv, know what he can do with the football in his hands, and know special things when that happens as well.”

“I think it’s trust. I think it’s also big that we’ve got a bunch of guys who can do a bunch of things, and you know obviously with Marvin when he gets the ball in his hands he does a lot of special things and he’s very talented.”
“Just him being in the right spot. Things working out for him…that’s what we needed in that certain time, and making those big plays were very key for us,” Dillon Gabriel concluded.
Dillon Gabriel is a former three-star recruit in the Class of 2019. Meanwhile, Marvin Mims was a four-star receiver in the Class of 2020. This is the first year Gabriel has played for Oklahoma. Mims had 7 catches for 163 yards and two touchdowns on Saturday.
