In the second half of Saturday’s game against Mississippi State, Oklahoma guard Duke Miles laid it all out. He dove for a loose ball, and as he did, he lost multiple teeth.

Miles went after a loose ball with about seven minutes left in Saturday’s game at the Lloyd Noble Center. As he did, he went face-first into the court and ended up losing teeth in the process.

The training staff quickly attended to him and picked the pieces up off the court. Miles then headed to the sideline for further evaluation as Oklahoma extended its lead over Mississippi State.

Miles later returned in the final minutes of Saturday’s game. He hit two key free throws in the last minute of the game to help seal a pivotal victory for Oklahoma.

Mississippi State took a 37-34 lead into halftime, but Oklahoma stormed back after the break. The Sooners flipped the script, leading by as many as 14 points in the second half as they looked to continue making their case for the NCAA Tournament.

MSU made things interesting down the stretch, though, to get within one possession in the final minutes of play. The Bulldogs got a three-pointer from Claudell Harris Jr. to make it a 90-87 Oklahoma lead with 28 seconds to play.

However, OU stayed the course and made the necessary free throws to seal the victory. The Sooners picked up another Quad 1 win, defeating Mississippi State 93-87.

Fears led the charge for OU with 27 points while Jalon Moore added 18 points and Sam Godwin had 17 to go with a team-high 10 rebounds. The Sooners were efficient in the second half, shooting 68% from the field while holding Mississippi State to 42.1% despite allowing 13 more shot attempts.

Oklahoma’s NCAA Tournament hopes remain a focal point entering the final stretch of the season. OU entered Saturday squarely on the bubble, needing some Q1 wins to present a case for the committee. The win over Mississippi State marked the Sooners’ fifth such victory of the year, and they’ll have more opportunities the rest of the way in a loaded SEC.

OU has four games remaining in the regular season, starting with Wednesday’s matchup at home against Kentucky. From there, the Sooners will travel to Ole Miss, welcome Missouri and hit the road for the season finale in the Red River Rivalry against Texas.
