Willis (Texas) 2024 quarterback DJ Lagway has established himself as one of the top prospects — and quarterbacks — in the sophomore class. National programs are very much in pursuit of him, including Oklahoma, which extended an offer Monday morning.

Lagway visited the Sooners late last month amid a string of spring visits to programs across the Big 12 and SEC footprint.

In one four-day swing earlier this month, Lagway visited ClemsonGeorgia, Georgia Tech and South Carolina. He has also tripped to LSU, Texas A&M, Alabama, Baylor and Florida since the beginning of March. All have extended him offers thus far, pushing the total number of programs pursuing him above 25 before his junior season has even started.

Texas A&M leading the pack right now for DJ Lagway

Right now, though, it’s the Aggies who have taken an early lead in his recruitment, according to the On3 Recruiting Prediction Machine (RPM). He has been on campus in College Station a half dozen times already and told AggieScoop’s Tim Verghese that they raise the bar each time he comes.

“They dot all the i’s and cross all the t’s honestly,” Lagway said. “It’s just a matter of time, waiting to see if it really feels like home home to me.”

Outside of Texas A&M, Alabama, Georgia and Florida are among three schools standing out to him. The four-star is coming off recent visits to Alabama and Georgia. And both schools are firmly in the mix for him. He added that Oklahoma and Oregon are two other schools that could make a move in the coming months.

Lagway is a long ways away from making a decision. He is looking to announce a top schools list in the fall, most likely closer to the end of the 2022 season.

DJ Lagway ranks as the No. 22 prospect and No. 4 quarterback in the country per the On3 Consensus, a complete and equally weighted industry-generated average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies.
