As a rising junior, Charlotte (N.C.) Providence Day School quarterback Jadyn Davis is already one of the most coveted prospects in the country — regardless of classification. Nearly every major program in the country has extended him an offer, including Oklahoma as of Tuesday evening.

A little less than a year after he tripped to Norman for a camp under the Sooners’ previous coaching staff, Davis picked up an offer from the new under Brent Venables.

The 6-foot, 185-pounder is the nation’s No. 12 overall prospect, according to the On3 Consensus, a complete and equally weighted industry-generated average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies. He ranks as the No. 2 quarterback behind only No. 1 overall prospect Dylan Raiola.

And while Davis had been considered a lean to the Buckeyes for quite some time, things have changed with Raiola projected to be their quarterback in the 2024 class. The On3 Recruiting Prediction Machine (RPM) gives OSU a 95.9 percent chance of securing his commitment.

Davis visited the Buckeyes recently on the same weekend, but now will turn his focus elsewhere. And he will have no shortage of options. Despite being just a sophomore, he has already taken more than two dozen visits. Georgia, South Carolina, Penn State, Tennessee, and Clemson are among the schools heavily pursuing him.

But the Sooners will try to break into the mix now, with some connections to the elite quarterback already. Venables was on the staff at Clemson that offered Davis, and he also had a rapport with OU offensive coordinator Jeff Lebby from his time at Ole Miss.

Jadyn Davis is the second signal-caller the Sooners have offered this week, joining four-star Willis (Tex.) QB DJ Lagway.
