With his commitment to Oklahoma, Alton Tarber becomes the 15th known pledge for the Sooners. He is the second defensive lineman to pick the Sooners in the 2022 class. He received his offer from the Sooners shortly after Oklahoma lost a pledge from five-star defensive lineman Gabriel Brownlow-Dindy.

Brownlow-Dindy was a longtime Sooner commit, but he backed away after Lincoln Riley left for USC. He ended switching his pledge to Texas A&M.

The Sooners currently have the nation’s ninth-ranked recruiting class. He becomes new head coach Brent Venables’ second known commitment since he arrived in Norman.
