Patty Gasso has won four consecutive national championships but she has shown no sign of slowing down. Oklahoma has hit the NCAA transfer portal hard this offseason and made another addition on Tuesday afternoon.

Former BYU shortstop Ailana Agbayani announced her commitment to the Sooners via Instagram. A key piece to Oklahoma’s roster next season, Agbayani is a huge addition both in the lineup and in the field.

Agbayani played in over 50 games this past year for BYU, putting up eye-popping numbers. She finished the 2024 season with an average of .424 with five home runs, 33 RBIs, and an OPS of 1.128. An absolute on-base machine, Agbayani was not one to strike out either. Just sat down seven times, she earned a walk on 30 occasions.

Oklahoma got to see her up close and personal this season. Agbayani recorded six hits in a three-game series between the Cougars and Sooners, totaling eight bases, and driving in two RBIs.

Gasso must have liked what she saw in Norman and felt the need to recruit Agbayani into the program herself.

Moving into the SEC is going to present some challenges, even for a dominant program like Oklahoma. Gasso is making sure no chances are taken and continues to load in through the portal. The Sooners project to be a top team in the preseason heading into 2025 and will certainly be favorites to complete the five-peat next year in Oklahoma City.

Oklahoma lands commitment from Utah outfielder Abby Dayton

Utah outfielder Abby Dayton will transfer to play for Patty Gasso at Oklahoma in 2025, Softball America‘s Brady Vernon reported Sunday. She played two seasons for the Utes and will have two years of eligibility remaining.

Dayton was named first-team All-Pac-12 this past season after leading the conference with a .444 batting average. She was also named a third-team All-American and finished top 10 in the league in hits (72). That included a pair of home runs and six triples.

Dayton also already has a connection to the Gasso family as she played her freshman season at Utah under Patty Gasso’s son, DJ, who was then a hitting coach for the Utes. She batted .368 that year with 43 hits across 47 games.

Prior to her college career, Dayton was ranked as the No. 22 overall prospect in the 2022 class coming out of Norco High School in Riverside, California.
