According to On3’s Joe Tipton, former Notre Dame forward Tae Davis has committed to the Oklahoma Sooners. Davis wound up spending two seasons in South Bend before putting his name back in the NCAA transfer portal. After beginning his career at Seton Hall, he now heads to Norman.

Davis is set to have one year of eligibility remaining. A veteran player in college basketball, Davis has played in 97 career games. He is averaging 9.1 points, 4.4 rebounds, and 1.2 rebounds back over the three seasons.

Notre Dame enjoyed what turned into a breakout year during the 2024-2025 season. Davis scored in double figures for the first time ever, going for 15.1 points and 5.3 rebounds per game. A consistent player for the Fighting Irish in what was an otherwise disappointing campaign.

“I think he’s just getting more and more confident as it goes,” Notre Dame head coach Micah Shrewsberry said of Davis early in the season. “I kind of expected this from him. He’s getting good at attacking close-outs, he’s reading things, he’s getting to the rim. The next stage for him is, now, develop his playmaking even more. But he’s playing really confident, and we gotta keep him here.”

Oklahoma hopes the confidence comes with him to their own program. It’s one head coach Porter Moser is having to rebuild through the portal. Last season was considered a success due to making the NCAA Tournament. Although, they wound up a first-round exit to a skilled UConn team.

You have to imagine Moser wants to go one step further and make some noise in March. Adding a player like Davis will only help the overall goal.

Trae Young accepts assistant GM job at Oklahoma

Atlanta Hawks star Trae Young is giving back to his alma mater, accepting a role as the assistant general manager at Oklahoma. The former Sooners’ basketball star is also making a $1 million donation to the program, as he announced on NBA Today.

Young is the second active player to take on a role like this. Steph Curry did the same with his alma mater, Davidson.

“I’m excited to announce that I’m accepting a role with OU basketball in being an assistant GM, as well as making a million dollar donation, to help kick start this whole thing,” Young said. “So it’s exciting to be a part of this, and being from Norman and playing there, obviously it’s exciting times. And I’m looking forward to being in this new role.”
