Ex-Oregon 4-star commit Jahlil Florence offered by Oklahoma
After committing to Oregon in August, San Diego (Calif.) Lincoln cornerback Jahlil Florence backed off his pledge to the Ducks following Mario Cristobal‘s departure for Miami a few weeks ago. He chose not to sign during the Early Signing Period last week, and has quickly become a very hot commodity on the open market.
After picking up a USC offer almost immediately after Cristobal left, Florence was offered by Oklahoma and new head coach Brent Venables on Tuesday.
Florence is the No. 151 prospect in the 2022 class, according to the On3 Consensus, a complete and equally weighted industry-generated average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies. He ranks as the nation’s No. 17 cornerback and the No. 10 prospect in California.
On3’s own rankings are much higher on Florence, though, listing him as the No. 71 prospect nationally, No. 12 cornerback and No. 5 player in the Golden State.

Michigan prepared to offer No. 1 recruit $10.5M over 4 years
According to On3 Director Recruiting Chad Simmons, the Ducks could still remain a factor. But Miami and USC are two to watch. Florence took an official visit to USC on December 10 and he is likely to visit Miami in January. Florence will definitely be a target for new Oregon head coach Dan Lanning.
But the Sooners will also look to get him on campus between now and the February signing period, too. A number of Oklahoma signees tweeted at Jahlil Florence after he announced the offer, including one-time Ducks commit Nicholas Anderson. The Sooners currently have one signee at cornerback — four-star Jayden Rowe — and one commitment from four-star Gentry Williams. The latter recently visited Arkansas before the early signing period and is a recruit the Razorbacks are very much trying to flip.
