Four-Star CB Jasiah Wagoner commits to Oklahoma

Four-star cornerback Jasiah Wagoner of Spanaway (Wash.) Lake High announced his commitment to Oklahoma Monday evening.
The 5-foot-11, 170 pounder chose the Sooners over Oregon, Texas, and Cal.
Wagoner on why he chose Oklahoma
“I’d say the coaching forsure,” Wagoner said. “No matter what, Oklahoma will always be good but with the coaches they have in the building right now I think it’ll take them to the top.”
Strong relationships with coaching staff
“I’m closest to Coach Valai and Coach Venables,” Wagoner said. “Me and Coach Valai talk a lot of ball and how I can be used all over the secondary. While Coach Venables and I talk more casually and about soul mission.”
The Washington cornerback joins the Sooners’ No. 12 recruiting class in the 2023 team rankings alongside Jackson Arnold, Cayden Green, and others.

Jasiah Wagoner Scouting Summary
“Corner prospect who has the hip fluidity and instincts to constantly live in phase with receivers throughout the entirety of their routes,” On3’s Director of Scouting Charles Power wrote. “Do-it-all athlete who plays running back, wide receiver, corner and returns punts. Ball skills seamlessly translate from receiver to corner. Plays through the hands and understands how to high point the football. Shifty and twitchy. Plays with a low center of gravity and plays under control. Question his top-end speed and ability to run with true burners at receiver. Lacks ideal length to play outside. Likely a better fit at nickel. High-floor role player who has the chance to step in immediately in the slot at the next level. One of the older defensive back prospects in the 2023 recruiting cycle.”
Wagoner ranks as the No. 217 player in the On3 Consensus, a complete and equally weighted industry-generated average that accounts for all four major recruiting sites. He also tabs in as the No. 27 cornerback and the second-best player in the state of Washington.
