4-star defensive lineman Derrick Moore decommits from Oklahoma
The bad news for Oklahoma got worse Monday morning, with four-star Baltimore (Md.) St. Frances Academy defensive lineman Derrick Moore announcing his decommitment from the Sooners.
“First I would like to say thank you to the University of Oklahoma and Norman for the love and support y’all have showed me during my recruiting process and me feel home,” Moore wrote. “I would like to say thank you to Coach Cain and Will J for recruiting me and wanting me to be a part of the Sooner nation. But with that being said, I will be decommitting from the University of Oklahoma and reopening my recruitment to all schools.”
Derrick Moore is Oklahoma’s sixth decommit in 24 hours
He is the sixth prospect to decommit from Oklahoma following the news that head coach Lincoln Riley is leaving to become the next head coach at USC. He joins Five-Star Plus+ quarterback Malachi Nelson, four-star wide receiver Brandon Inniss, four-star running back Treyaun Webb, four-star IOL Demetrius Hunter and four-star linebacker Kobie McKinzie. Moore is the third 2022 prospect to defect, joining Hunter and McKinzie.
He is ranked as the No. 120 prospect in the 2022 class, according to the On3 Consensus, a complete and equally weighted industry-generated average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies. He ranks as the nation’s No. 18 defensive lineman and No. 2 prospect in Maryland.

The Sooners now have 14 prospects committed for 2022 and have dropped to No. 9 in the On3 Consensus Team Recruiting Rankings. And it’s likely that the hits aren’t over yet. A number of Oklahoma recruits expressed their shock over Riley’s departure on Twitter Sunday, including four-star 2022 commits Raleek Brown and Nicholas Anderson.
Moore committed to the Sooners in July over nearly 20 other offers, including Florida, Georgia, LSU, Notre Dame, Ohio State and others. He immediately becomes one of the top prospects still available in the 2022 class.
