Four-star EDGE Danny Okoye of Tulsa (OK) Noah Homeschool announced his commitment to Oklahoma Wednesday afternoon.

The 6-foot-4, 240 pounder chose the Soomers over Texas and Tennessee.

“I really felt a family atmosphere every time I was down on campus and I can really buy into everything that Coach Venables is building over there,” Okoye said. “They didn’t have too good of a season last year, but I can see them rebuilding in every way possible. But I also feel as though the support system at OU is one of the best that I will get in order to pursue my specific goals.”

His relationship with the coaching staff played and their plan for him played a key role in his decision as well.

“I’m closest with the coaches on the defensive side of the ball. Coach Chavis, coach Bates, Coach Roof, and Venables all have been building relationships with me and they want to use me as an edge/outside linebacker hybrid.”

The Sooner State defensive lineman joins coach Brent Venables and the Sooners’ top 10 2024 class. He is accompanied by five-star defensive lineman David Stone, four-star running back Taylor Tatum, and others.

Scouting Summary

On3’s Scouting and Rankings team writes this about him as a prospect:

“One of the more physically-gifted EDGE prospects in the 2024 cycle. Developed with a muscled, thick build. Listed at around 6-foot-4, 240 pounds. A twitchy, athletic player. Has a bunch of strength in the weight room, which transfers over to the field. An explosive pass rusher who wins with first-step quickness, speed to power and closing speed. A violent finisher behind the line of scrimmage. Finished his junior season with 16 tackles for loss. Also plays some offense and moonlights as a pass-catcher on the 7-on-7 circuit. Plays very low level competition, competing in a home school league. Will have to make a huge adjustment to the uptick in competition as he joins a Power 5 program.”

He currently has an On3 NIL Valuation of $86K. The On3 NIL Valuation is the leading index that sets high school and college athletes’ projected annual value (PAV). The NIL valuation does not act as a tracker of the value of NIL deals an athlete has completed to date. It rather signifies an athlete’s value at a certain moment in time.
