4-star quarterback Nick Evers commits to Oklahoma

After a whirlwind, one-week courtship, Oklahoma landed its quarterback on Monday when four-star Flower Mound (Texas) signal-caller Nick Evers picked the Sooners.
Evers is the No. 125 prospect in the 2022 class, according to the On3 Consensus, a complete and equally weighted industry-generated average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies. He ranks as the country’s No. 8 quarterback and the No. 24 prospect in Texas.
On3 ranks him higher as the No. 66 overall player and No. 6 quarterback in the 2022 On300 rankings.
He decommitted from Florida on Tuesday after meeting with new head coach Billy Napier, who replaced Dan Mullen. Evers committed to Mullen’s staff in March, but according to GatorsOnline, the family had questions about the direction of the program under Napier.

A day later, both Oklahoma and Ole Miss extended offers, but it was the Sooners and new offensive coordinator Jeff Lebby, who was previously in the same role with the Rebels, who got him for an official visit.
The Sooners 2022 class took a significant hit after head coach Lincoln Riley’s departure, including the loss of five-star defensive lineman Gabriel Brownlow-Dindy and wide receiver Raleek Brown. But new coach Brent Venables held onto a number of priority commits, and grabbing a quarterback like Nick Evers this late can only be considered a massive win.
