Four-star safety Reggie Powers of Dayton (OH) Centerville High announced his commitment to Oklahoma Saturday afternoon.

The 6-foot-1, 200 pounder was previously committed to Michigan State.

“I think the thing that stood out the most was the culture and atmosphere when I got there on gameday. It is a very big football school that is very passionate about that. I loved all of the coaches and all the love I was getting there, it is full of great people and players.”

His relationship with the coaching staff and their plan for him played a role in his decision as well.

“I would say I am the closest with coach Hall, the safety coach,” Powers said. “He is the one I talk to everyday. Also coach Venables with him basically being the DC and working with the safeties, they see me as being able to play multiple safety spots and being versatile in many spots with blitzing and being in coverage.”
