WATCH: Jocelyn Alo opens WCWS Final with two-run home run blast
Oklahoma star Jocelyn Alo opened the WCWS Final with a two-run home run to left field in the first inning, putting them ahead of Texas 2-1. After the first batter for the Sooners hit a lead-off double, the Longhorns made the decision to pitch to Alo instead of walking her to the open base.
Alo wasted no time in punishing them, blasting home run number 33 of the season and the 121st of her career.

Jocelyn Alo shines in WCWS Final
The home run not only started a huge first inning for the Sooners, but puts Alo at five-for-five on her last five at-bats — including three home runs. Alo, the 2022 Collegiate Softball Player of the Year, already holds the all-time career home run record for the sport, a number that she continues to push higher at 121. The hit also gave Alo 322 RBIs for her career, six away from the all-time record for 328 set in 1996.
Unfortunately for Texas, the damage wasn’t finished in the first inning after Alo’s hit.
With a 5-1 lead for Oklahoma, Texas went to their bullpen early for a pitching change, hoping to find a way to stabilize against the early scoring frenzy. Throughout the season, Oklahoma has been incredibly dominant out of the gates — outscoring opponents 116-6 in the first inning.
