Black is the No. 11 overall prospect and No. 2 cornerback in the 2023 cycle, according to the On3 Industry Ranking, a weighted average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies. He is also the No. 3 player in Texas.
The 6-foot-0.5, 190-pound defensive back holds 30 offers. According to the On3 Recruiting Prediction Machine, Oklahoma State is leading for his commitment at 30.8%.
“I don’t really know if I have a plan yet,” Black told On3’s Chad Simmons on March 2 about his commitment. “But it’s just more so whenever I feel ready.”
Black shared with Simmons that some of the top programs in the country are involved in his recruitment. They include Alabama, LSU and Texas, and the four-star broke down his interest in those schools.

Alabama: “They can put me in the league and have competition, being able to compete every day against the best. They’re treating me like a priority too. Coach (Nick) Saban came to my school to come see me, so that was real big for me.”
LSU: “LSU’s known for DBs. It’s DBU really. That’s big and they put DBs in the league every year.”
Texas: “The atmosphere. Everybody there, I’d say they don’t sugarcoat anything. They always tell the truth. There are good vibes there. Everything’s cool there.”
Kobe Black On3 Scouting Summary
The following is the On3 Scouting Summary for Kobe Black:
“Two-way star at cornerback and wide receiver who shows off his natural ball skills on both sides of the ball. Tremendous size and length. Measures in at 6-foot, 190 pounds with a 6-foot-5 wingspan. Jumped an 18-inch vertical and ran an electronically-timed 4.25 shuttle and a freakish 6.98 3-cone drill during the spring camp circuit prior to his junior season.
“Terrific high point ability and strong hands at the catch point. Solid long speed and hip fluidity. Prototype boundary corner at the next level and projects to be a top-tier NFL draft selection. Brother is current Oklahoma State cornerback, Korie Black.”
