One of the gifts of Jordan sponsoring your team’s athletics department: custom Jordan apparel. Enter: The Oklahoma x Air Jordan 6.

The shoe, which boasts the Oklahoma ‘OU’ logo on the heel instead of the typical Jumpman logo, features a red, black and white colorway with a huge “23” located front and center to show off Jordan’s numbers which is now synonymous with someone who many call the GOAT.

Another Sooners logo is located atop the shoelaces in front of the tongue to let fans know which team you’re repping at all times.

The only downside — the shoe is not yet released and there are no reports on a timetable for public distribution.

This isn’t the first time Jordan has made a custom sneaker for the Sooners, though. Most popularly, they’ve released a Jordan 4 Retro custom sneaker dubbed ‘Oklahoma Sooners PE’ — the lowest ask on Stock X for an 11.5, $9,000. On top of that, Oklahoma and Jordan have teamed up for custom Jordan Retro 1 Highs, Jordan Reacts Havocs and Jordan Alpha 360 TR’s. All are available for purchase on the GOAT and Stock X apps.

The two parties have officially been working together since 2017 when the Sooners signed a uniform contract with the Jordan Brand and the football team began wearing their logo on their jerseys during the 2018-19 season.

“Once I noticed that the Jordan brand was interested in moving from the (basketball court) onto a different playing surface, I wanted to make sure that Oklahoma was right in the middle of that discussion,” Oklahoma Athletic Director Joe Castiglione said at the time. “Because of our terrific partnership that we have with Nike, we were able to develop that interest and the discussions took off in December of 2016, and we were able to come together and make this happen.”

Once they made the switch to Jordan Brand, Oklahoma’s contract with Nike was extended to June 30, 2028. The previous amendment with Nike included an extension to the initial contract from July 1, 2014, to June 30, 2024.

“The guys want to look good and how they look impacts how they feel and how they feel impacts how they play on the field,” graphic designer Josh Iverson said in a video that announced the new Jordan Brand uniforms in 2018. “When you give them something that is meaningful to them that helps tell a story or looks impressive, it really helps them play that way.
