Allen (Texas) Frisco Emerson four-star cornerback Maliek Hawkins has committed to Oklahoma.

He chose the Sooners over Texas, Arkansas and Mississippi State.

Hawkins is the No. 331 overall prospect and No. 34 corner in the 2025 cycle, according to the On3 Industry Ranking, a weighted average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies. He’s also the No. 55 player in Texas.

Brent Venables and the OU staff got out in front for the Lone Star State product, getting him on campus for a Junior Day visit in January, as well as multiple trips in 2023. The 6-foot-1, 175-pounder is now the latest to join the Sooners’ rising 2025 class.

Hawkins is the younger brother of current Sooner quarterback, Michael Hawkins. He was the No. 18 QB in the 2024 cycle and signed with OU in December.

Oklahoma Class Breakdown

The Sooners continue their strong start to the 2025 class and now have 12 total commitments — six of whom rank as four-star prospects — and a No. 13 ranking in the On3 Industry Team Recruiting Rankings.

Offense and in-state targets have been the focus early on in the 2025 cycle for OU, with five of their nine commitments hailing from the Sooner State and seven expected to play on offensive at the next level. Co-offensive coordinator Seth Littrell has his quarterback with four-star Kevin Sperry out of the Oklahoma City area. His pledge has helped spur on a string of receiver commitments, led by in-state four-star Elijah Thomas Texas-based three-star Gracen Harris. The Sooners added another key piece to the puzzle on March 29 with the addition of four-star running back Tory Blaylock, who chose OU over Texas, Ohio State and a number of others.

On the defensive side, the Sooners have four early commitments from linebacker Marcus James, EDGE Alexander Shieldnight, defensive lineman Ka’Mori Moore and now Hawkins.
