EA Sports College Football 26 was released on Monday, being the second edition of the game since its revitalization. Players went through a similar process as last year, having to sign a contract in order to appear in the game. Turns out, not everybody got around to it and wound up missing out.

Three Oklahoma players are not in EA Sports College Football 26, all of them freshmen — Maliek Hawkins, Courtland Guillory, and Emmanuel Choice. Hawkins revealed as such on Monday, posting a picture of the other two explaining the trio’s mess-up.

“POV: (you) forgot to (sign) the EA Sports contract,” Hawkins said on his Instagram story. “We not in the game.”

Generic names will now pop up when any of them go to look for their character. At the very least, it’s a lesson learned, and they will be ready to sign the document for next year’s game. Maybe their ranking will be a little higher as well after getting a season of college football under their belt.

Oklahoma does have a ton of influence in the game on multiple fronts. Gaylord Family-Oklahoma Memorial Stadium was in the top 10 in most difficult places to play, coming in at No. 8. Only four SEC stadiums are ranked ahead of it, being a great testament to the homefield advantage in Norman.

The Sooners are also a top 25 overall team in EA Sports College Football 25. The rating of 85 is good enough for 17th but tied with a few other programs. Again, compared to SEC foes, Oklahoma is slated behind seven conference opponents. Proof of how difficult life in the SEC can be while still being viewed as one of the best teams out there.

Looking at individual players, quarterback John Mateer is a borderline top-five guy at the position. Mateer has high expectations in real life and before the actual 2025 season gets underway, Oklahoma fans can use the Washington State transfer on their console. He is rated 91 overall. There is a ton of positives when it comes to Oklahoma in EA Sports College Football 25. But for those maybe looking to begin a dynasty and develop some of the younger guys, three will not be available to them. But at the same time, nobody is kicking themselves more than Choice, Guillory, and Hawkins. A missed opportunity from them.
