Miami transfer guard Nijel Pack commits to Oklahoma

Miami transfer guard Nijel Pack committed to transfer to Oklahoma, according to On3’s Joe Tipton. The graduate transfer guard is expected to have one season of college eligibility remaining after applying for a medical hardship waiver following a season-ending injury in December.
The 6-foot Pack originally signed with Kansas State out of high school and played two years with the Wildcats before entering the transfer portal in 2022. He signed with the Hurricanes as one of highest-paid players in college basketball at that time, inking a reported $800,000 dollars over his first two years.
Pack made an immediate impact in Coral Gables, becoming the team’s fourth-leading scorer in 2022-23 while helping guide the Hurricanes to their first Final Four in program history, shooting better than 40-percent from behind the arc. Pack returned in 2023-24, averaging 13.3 points and 3.6 assists per game while the ‘Canes struggled to a disappointing 15-17 campaign. Instead of leaving for the NBA, Pack used his one-time COVID eligibility waiver to come back for the 2024-25 season in Miami, but only played nine games due to early-season foot injury.
Pack was leading the team in scoring averaging 13.9 points per game before injuring his foot Dec. 10 against Tennessee, and is expected to seek a medical hardship waiver to play his sixth season in college.
Despite his uncertain future, Pack was a sought-after portal target as one of the country’s best 3-point shooters over his five-year career. In 122 games, he has knocked down 313 3-pointers while shooting just above 40 percent.

Pack joins an Oklahoma (20-14, 6-12 SEC) squad eager to bounce back from a difficult first season apart of the SEC, where the Sooners made the 2025 NCAA Tournament as a ninth seed but were quickly dispatched 67-59 in their opening-round game against eighth-seeded UConn.
Should he be granted a sixth season of college eligibility, Pack could help alleviate the loss of talented freshman point guard Jeremiah Fears, who announced plans to enter the 2025 NBA Draft last week.
As a high school prospect, Pack was a four-star recruit who ranked No. 124 nationally in the 2020 class, according to the On3 Industry Ranking, a weighted average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies.
