Nic Anderson injury update: Report paints grim outlook for return of Oklahoma WR
Despite trying to make a true season debut for a few games now at Oklahoma, it could still be quite some time between now and then according to the latest on Nic Anderson.
Per Matt Zenitz at 247 Sports, Anderson could be out “several more weeks” due to the injury to his quad.
Anderson has been dealing with this injury since coming into this campaign. With that, he has now missed every game but one so far. Even so, he only played in a few snaps and didn’t record any statistics against Tennessee.
This is an unfortunate update on Anderson in his third season after how productive he was as a redshirt freshman. In 13 games, including starts in their final six, he caught 38 passes for 798 yards and 10 touchdowns. That had him second in receiving yardage and third in total receptions. He also tied for first in scores as he also set a freshman record at OU.
This also doesn’t come at a good time based on how the rest of their receiving corps is. The Sooners are coming off of a game where they listed five wide receivers as out, including Anderson. They do have the weekend off on a bye ahead of the Red River Rivalry. Still, getting healthy, let alone finding production, is going to be important for their final seven outings with them throwing for less than 170 yards per game so far.

Deion Burks, Taylor Tatum injury update: Brent Venables provides latest on Oklahoma playmakers
Oklahoma now has a week to rest and recover before playing in another big game. With that, the Sooners need to get healthy, especially on the offensive end where multiple big-time contributors are banged up.
Deion Burks and Taylor Tatum are two of the biggest names as part of that as neither played against Auburn last weekend. On Wednesday, Venables provided an update on the pair in the middle of their bye week by saying there is a chance that they return for the Red River Rivalry.
“They’re doing good,” Venables said Wednesday during the SEC Coaches Teleconference. “Looking good. Expect to have an opportunity to have both of those guys potentially back.”
