On3 Consensus four-star recruit Kaden Cooper has committed to Oklahoma.

The 6-foot-5 class of 2023 small forward ultimately chose the Sooners over Alabama, Kansas, LSU, and Gonzaga. He also received offers from Oklahoma State, Kansas State, Texas, Memphis, UCLA, Houston, and others.

Cooper attends Atlanta (Ga.) The Skill Factory but is originally from Ada, Oklahoma, roughly an hour away from Norman.

He is Oklahoma’s second addition to the 2023 class, joining three-star wing Jacolb Cole (No. 116).

Cooper ranks as the No. 45 overall prospect in the 2023 class, according to the On3 Consensus, the average ranking from all four major recruiting media companies.

Cooper on his commitment to Oklahoma

“Well, I’m from Oklahoma but that alone only means so much,” Cooper said. “I mean, being able to leave a legacy with the abilities that I’ve been blessed with and have a real chance to accomplish something some people only dream of is something you can’t take for granted. I feel that with the cards I was dealt, there’s no way I could’ve said no to staying home and leading my team to something amazing.”

What type of player is Oklahoma getting in Kaden Cooper, in his own words?

“OU is a getting a two-way player that is capable of guarding 1-5 and being explosive on both ends,” he says. “I take a lot of pride in defense but I think by the time I get to the next level, my offensive game will be as dominant as my defense.”

Cooper has a message for OU fans.

“I’m home.”

Scouting Summary

Kaden Cooper is a lengthy and highly-explosive wing. At 6-foot-5, he has a projectable frame with broad shoulders, one that looks like it will easily add weight in a college strength and conditioning program. Cooper has upside as a perimeter team defender; his quick twitch and length play well in the passing lanes. Offensively, the jump shot is really developing. The mechanics are clean, and the release is becoming consistent. Always great in transition, Cooper moves well off the ball. The added threat of a jump shot makes him all the more a weapon. Cooper works hard and has high-level physical tools; there is an upside to go here with continued growth moving forward. – On3’s Jamie Shaw
