Oklahoma lands commitment from coveted Class of 2022 big man Luke Northweather
The Oklahoma Sooners just landed a big addition to the 2022 class, as power forward Luke Northweather has announced his commitment. Northweather took to Twitter to reveal his commitment to Oklahoma on Friday.
Northweather was named the 2021-2022 Missouri Boys Basketball Player of the Year for his strong performance at Blair Oaks High School in Jefferson City, Missouri. On the year, the six-foot-ten senior averaged 29.2 points per game, also adding 11.4 rebounds, two steals, and 3.4 assists per contest.
Northweather visited Oklahoma on April 22, picking up an offer. He also received offers from Missouri and Wyoming. Northweather had scheduled visits to Missouri on April 26 and Wisconsin on April 28.
Oklahoma finished this past season with an overall record of 19-16, including a 7-11 mark against Big 12 opponents. The Sooners lost in the second round of the NIT Tournament.

Northweather joins an evolving Oklahoma Sooners roster
Last season started off well for Oklahoma, as the Sooners began the year 12-3, opening Big 12 play 2-1. But in January, the Sooners went on a brutal streak of losses. Beginning on January 11, Oklahoma went on a stretch that stretched through February 22 and resulted in a 2-11 record.
The Sooners had two different four-game losing streaks during that stretch, and another three-game skid. Oklahoma won four in a row before losing its regular season finale, finishing the regular season at 18-15 overall.
Following the season, Oklahoma has seen a lot of movement throughout its roster. A few players have transferred out of the program, including Alston Mason, Akol Mawein, Elijah Harkless, Rick Issanza and Umoja Gibson. Oklahoma has also picked up a few transfers, and now the addition of Northwestern gives more clarity on the roster heading into next season. And there is still plenty of time left for Oklahoma to add even more pieces to its roster.
